I saw the filmbites end of year presentation thing or whatever it was last year and I have to agree it is a really good place for kids to start off in acting. They get a really good idea of what its like to be in front of a camera and the sort of time and effort it takes for a production to be put together. The only drawback is that it only seems to teach film acting (I could be wrong.. I don't go here I just know what I saw and heard from students)
It depends on how old you are too. Filmbite's oldest student looked about 15 / 16.
Also try:
Stage Door School of Performing Arts in Subiaco. They have drama classes on a Thursday night for teenagers and then on Saturday afternoons they have older teens and adults acting classes. Both classes cater for audition preparation, scene acting, acting on stage and acting for the camera. Check out www.stagedoorschool.com for more info.
There are also a lot of private drama teachers around and most performance schools / dance schools now offer drama. This is a good place to start if you're not too sure.
Hope this helps.
