Puppeteer wanted

A puppeteer is wanted to perform as part of a 2008 Comedy Festival season. City Head is a puppetry show, and is about the medical condition of having a city living off your brain. Produced by Sticky Apple Legs, a young puppetry company, and written by Tom Taylor, winner of Short and Sweet Melbourne. The show was performed successfully this year during the comedy festival, and we received mostly sell-out audiences. The Pun said of the show: “…The storyline, although short, is absorbing and entertaining, and the labour poured into the moppets and dioramas is effective. Well worth a nibble.” The performance is roughly 30 minutes long, and the puppets are simple to operate – you will be required to operate a ‘muppet’, and parts of a Lego city set piece. I am happy to audition those with no puppetry experience, but you must have had some acting experience and a willingness to learn puppetry. The person will be expected to perform the ‘muppet’ with a male voice, but I am happy to hear from both male and female performers. This performance is profit-share; the show may be re-produced later in 2008. Rehearsals will be on weekends (possibly weekday evenings if schedules clash) beginning after New Year’s. Performance dates TBA, but will be during the last weeks of March. You will be asked to audition on the 21st Oct 2007. Please wear comfortable clothing and expect to have some hands-on auditioning with the actual puppets.
