Curtin University student short film requires three actors (two leads and a minor part) for a contemporary comedy that tackles the subject of religion in a fresh and vibrant way. Written by Tim Beckett and Nikit Doshi, the as yet to be titled comedy takes place in a church, a nightclub and a street. The story begins in a church where a reverends encounter with a homosexual guy results in an unfortunate accident. The reverend wakes to find himself in an unlikely version of heaven, a nightclub. He is soon shocked to discover that the creator of the universe, god, is gay. The script is hilarious and fast paced and is a great challenge for comic actors. The characters we are looking for are; God – we are looking for someone who is well built, has long hair, and is comfortable with the idea of playing a gay man. There is no physical affection involved, but the actor will be required to experiment with the concept of gay stereotypes, and play a flamboyant and lively character. This is ideal for those interested in Comedy, as there is room for interpretation and a lot of experimentation to create a hilarious and lovable character. Chuck – we are again looking for someone who is comfortable with the idea of playing a gay man. There is no physical affection involved, but the actor will be required to experiment with the concept of gay stereotypes, and play a flamboyant and lively character. This is ideal for those interested in Comedy, as there is room for interpretation and a lot of experimentation to create a hilarious and lovable character. This character is totally open to interpretation, therefore anyone looking for a challenge and something funny would suit this role. Jesus – we are looking for someone who has long hair, and bears some resemblance to a stereotypical notion of what we think Jesus looks like (however this is not essential as we can easily create this look). Unlike the real Jesus, this guy is lonely, low on self esteem, drinks a lot, and generally has no friends. It’s a great role for someone looking to do something funny, and portray the Son of God in an altogether different light. We are also looking for some actors who can play bouncers, prefrebably well built. Anyone interested contact Nikit Doshi (director) 0413389462 doshinikit@gmail.com Ineke Neeson (producer) 0439697749 inekeneeson@hotmail.com
