Hey, I’m currently in year 12 in country SA. Next year ill be having a GAP year before I hopefully go to a performing arts school. Just wondering if there are any jobs in Adelaide in theatre going now or soon. I’m enthusiastic and would love to work in a theatre doing whatever!

Hi Chelsea: If you are

Hi Chelsea: If you are trying to break into the professional world of theatre here in Adelaide I have to say it is not easy. There are very few places that employ staff and frankly as far as I know nobody is planning any moves. You also I am afraid would need experience or training in most areas to get paid work. You haven't made it clear what sort of theatrical experience you have. Volunteers are very welcome in many smaller theatres and there is a thriving community of theatre in Adelaide. It might also be worth your while to contact Urban Myth Theatre of Youth in Unley to talk to them. What were you looking for? Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au

Hi Chelsea

My name is Michael and I manage and operate a performing arts company in South Australia called Fat Lip which incorporates Fat Lip Drama, Fat Lip ADL 08, and Fat Lip Productions. I am young myself and know how hard it is to find professional development opportunities in theatre anywhere in Australia, let alone Adelaide. However, that is where Fat Lip comes in, Fat Lip is all about helping young people under 24 gain experience, professional development, and paid work within the performing arts industry. Fat Lip is currently working on a major project in establishing a BRAND NEW venue for next year's Adelaide Fringe Festival, where Fat Lip Drama will be presenting it's brand new production of X-Stacy, and at least 3 other shows from different genres will be on board. I am not sure how, but I will think of how I can get you involved with this project if you like. Drop me a line if you like at michaeledgecomb@bigpond.com, and tell us a bit about yourself and your theatre/drama experience, and we can go from there. Cheers Michael Director Fat Lip

Thanks

Thanks for your advice! I dont have any professional experience as yet, ive only done stage 1 and 2 drama studies and acted in an amateur theatre group. i have also modeled and am a dancer. im not looking for work like that though, more along the lines of ushering ect. i just want to be in the theatre surrounding, as i have yet to be trained! Also as you also probably feel theatre has a wonderful vibe which i would love to be around. i will contact Urban Myth Theatre, thanks again. :)
