Is it really too hard?

Is it really too hard for people posting notices about shows, auditions, etc, etc, to put the city in the title? This IS a national webpage. Just thinking a little bit about your readers would suggest that it would be a very good idea to be helpful to the readers by indicating the location in the title. I mentioned this recently, but nobody seems to care. It makes the site less useful to the users.

I think people do care, but

I think people do care, but either don't notice the 'state' selection option, or are so close to their project and what they are writing about it that they assume that people know that 'such and such university theatre' is in WA or wherever. I would also like to point out that the people who post here are mostly (a generalisation I know) WA located, and the other states (QLD, TAS) are under-represented. I know that there's fewer than five Melbourne-based regulars, and I'm one of them. That being said, I quite agree. The state locator issue is frustrating. I reckon there's two

I reckon there's two regulars from SA I always put Adelaide in the area at the top of my posts. I don't put it in the title because I want people to read them. Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au

The tags in the message are

The tags in the message are all very well, Na, but this is not a fast site and, frankly, it's often a pain opening posts. And, why would you want someone from Queensland, say, reading a post about an audition in SA, Logos? Jim

Speed doesn't have to do

Speed doesn't have to do with finding the correct information; actually I think it's more because all the posts are lumped together, and there is no easy way to search (in the forum threads at least) by state. As for a QLDer to know about an audition in SA - what if they have friends there, and are interested in helping them find auditions? What if they plan on moving there? What if they are simply curious. I know a number of times I check out a post from curiosity, read it, and then discover hidden in the middle that the post is not relevant to me because of location. Again, we are reliant on the people posting the information to be objective enough to realise that not everyone is familiar with their venue location. My play that is currently

My play that is currently on in Adelaide has in its cast a person who was moving from Qld to SA and answered my advert on this net. I always read reviews of plays everywhere in Australia, I don't worry about where they are. I am a little sorry that so few SA plays get reviewed on this site. I personally do not feel that I can write reviews otherwise I would log more. I also usually have a conflict of interest. I also almost always read threads about productions where I am not familiar with the play regardless of where it is. I guess I'm just nosy. Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au
