The MS society is putting on 'Oliver!' at the Regal Theatre, Perth, in October, the fourth in a series of fund-raising musicals. Over the last three years they have raised about $250k. It is Pro/Am, directed by John Milson. Actual performances start on 10 October and go through to Sunday 21 October - 12 in all. So the performance schedule is very hectic and includes two matinees. Rehearsals started last week and are held on Tuesdays (boys' chorus) Thursdays (adult chorus), Sat and Sunday. Obviously not everyone gets called for every rehearsal.

Due to a change in circumstances, we find ourselves looking for someone to do Mr Bumble. Most people will be familiar with this part (Harry Secombe in the movie). It is a fairly contained principal role which doesn't also take part in the chorus - so rehearsals will be relatively light. The part probably suggests a tenor or light baritone, because of the range in 'Boy for Sale', but as this is a solo, some 'adjustment' can be made.' A relatively 'imposing physique' is the stereotype, but by no means critical.' The ability to act and a good sense of comic timing are obviously important.

Anyone interested can contact Conrad Crisafulli on 0402 419 078, or Bethne Crisafulli on 9244 1305 or John Milson directly on 0437 617 502 or the production manager (Carolyn Cutri) on 0410 475 333.
