Taking an islander actor seriously :P
Fri, 20 Apr 2007, 11:04 pmHi.
I am a 16 year old male islander/polynesian actor (samoan to be specific) actor who cannot seem to find experience in the film/tv/theatre industry without being pigeon holed with the stereotypical "black" tough act and "macho man" facade, which seems to plague screens across the world. A bit rich coming from a 16 year old, yes, but I would like to point out that not ALL islander people like Rnb/Hip Hop music and idolise the pathetic recycled imagery of rappers wearing enough 'bling' to purchase a hospital in a third world country. I hate stereotypes and cliches. If anyone out there know of any groups which specialise in creating performance pieces or creative arts in general, I'd love to know :)
