We are currently seeking actors for 2 female lead roles in a small short film that will be directed and produced by myself and my peers; second year Media Studies students at La Trobe University (Bundoora Campus). We are also looking for a smaller, non-speaking male role. The film, entitled ‘Little Fishes’ will be approx 5-8 minutes in length. It is a mockumentary comedy, and the ability to make people laugh, have a fresh outlook on scripts and have a healthy sense of humour is a must. We are looking to cast the following characters. CLEOPATRA – Convinced she is a fantastic actress, but is extremely mediocre. Ditzy and self-assured. The whole storyline revolves around her, and she has the funniest lines. The actor cast for this role must be of a medium to larger build, though no other restrictions in terms of looks apply (Girls under a size 14, I’m sorry, but this role is not for you). She must be between the ages of 21-25 (or look between that age), be able to express herself very characteristically, and overall, have a sense of humour! ISIS – Cleopatra’s younger sister. She is around 18-19 years of age, and is rather alternative (Think ratty band tee’s and film posters). Must have dark hair (very dark brown/black preferred). She plays a secondary role in the film, and must also be able to clearly express herself and get into the role of her character. KENNETH – Young man in his early twenties/ late teens. In our treatments and pitches, so many people have claimed Kenneth is the best character. We’re really looking for a certain look. Must be of small stature, preferably very thin/gangly. Must be able to pull facial expressions and convey a character without words. We anticipate to be filming From Wednesday-Friday during the DAY, most likely for two or three days. The locations are in the NORTHERN SUBURBS OF MELBOURNE (Bundoora, Mill Park) and at this stage will be filmed around Late April-Early May. The acting work will be unpaid. However, food and drink will be provided during the day, and the film will be shown publicly. You will also receive a DVD copy of the film for your CV or resume. Own transport to MAIN filming area is required, secondary location transport will be provided. If you’re interested in one of these roles, please send an e-mail to me, Chloe, at v_ruriko@yahoo.com.au with a photograph and a little about yourself. We will send you the script, and then be doing interviews if there is more than one suitable person. Thanks so much for your interest guys, hope to see your e-mails soon!

Have you tried sourcing

Have you tried sourcing actors from student theatre at LaTrobe? Might be worth a try. We are upstairs in the union building and are looking for script submissions for short films (To be screened at ACMI at Fed Square) and short plays to be performed on campus Julia
