UFO PLAY – EARLY CASTING CALL (Melbourne)
Mon, 22 Jan 2007, 07:04 pmA ROCK IN THE SKY – EARLY CASTING CALL (Melbourne)
On the evening of Tuesday, December 7th, Chris Hunter, when rambling through the bush around his Murribark home, saw what he took to be a U.F.O., a glowing orb of light, stationary in the skies. We, officers of the law and citizens of Murribark, know now that he must have been wrong and that it must have been something else. Clearly. (See? Even Chris thinks so.)
The play by Thomas Firth challenges what we see as the truth and what we ultimately value in life. A claustrophobic thrashing back-and-forth between knowledge and experience, logic and meaning, youth and passing on…
This is a casting call for the roles of:
- Sgt. Neil Robson – Male 40+ - Lead role, a rather wise, long-serving cop, experienced but maybe getting a bit too old for the job.
- Constable Tom Hughes – Male late-20s, early-30s – Less experienced, up-and-coming cop, perhaps a little too fixated on the rule-book.
- Martine – Female 30+ - Bright, funny, attractive in her own distinctive way. Without being a police officer, the life and soul of the place.
- Gaile Hunter – Female 40s – Battling single mother and farmer.
- Chris Hunter – Male 18-24 – Her son, “troubled youth”, who goes slightly off his head.
- 2 roles – Male 30s? – versatile actor who can play both these roles:
Senior-Sergeant (40s-50s) – conservative officer-type
Sam Page (20s) – naïve youngster in the army
Also seeking expressions of interest from any persons who would like to help out in production/crew roles.
These are not paid roles - just for the love of it.
The actual date of production is still to be decided, but looking to be later in the year – perhaps June or July.
