ACTORS AND ACTRESSES WANTED for short film in Melbourne
Sat, 23 Sept 2006, 07:13 pm'QUITLINE' is a 5 minute short film which depicts a city controlled by a complete smoking ban. The city's 'Quitline' team spend their days enforcing this strict ban, and keeping the streets and the air clean. One man however can no longer control his incessant nicotine cravings, decides to challenge the 'Quitline' and gives into temptation.
CHARACTERS:
Quitline Militants- 2 Roles
Aged late 20's to early 40's, both males and females welcome to apply.
It's every young child's dream to be a Quitline militant. Like the Men in Black of the smoking world, their job is to keep the air clean and fresh for the rest of society by erasing the existence of those who are caught smoking. They spend their days patrolling the streets making sure everyone obeys the rules. If they find someone who doesn't, they'd better watch out.
Dave
Aged mid 20's
Dave is a scruffy young guy who's keen to rebel against authority in any way he can. His nicotine cravings are getting the better of him and he can't take it any longer.
He can't stand the way everyone else sticks to the rules and finally decides to challenge the dominance of the Quitline.
The Dealer
Male, aged mid to late 20's.
The Dealer does whatever he can just to make ends meet. He works as a nicotine dealer in a society which condemns it, even though he's seen what the militants can do.
