Murdoch Uni Student Short film auditions

Hi everyone, My name is Nicholas Savatovic and I'm producing a short film at Murdoch University in Perth WA. I'm going to paste the character description and audition scenarios for the two main characters in this message: JACOB – Is the main character. He is a shy awkward personalty in his twenties with his age round about the 22-27 age range. Because of his personality he sometimes creates the impression of weirdness to people around him who are unknown. He is looking to break out of his shy shell but his attempts seem to just fall into more social awkwardness. He is Caucasian and skinny, yet working towards some kind of muscle mass. He is a former drug user and his face holds the evidence to this pastime, his face is dotted with a five o’clock shadow, black eye rings and other characteristics which hold a certain ruggedness. He is quiet though has communicative spurts with people he knows very well but most of time he responds with a nod or “yeahh”. He is lazy at times and usually opts for a quick fix to his problems. When he latches onto some kind of method for a quick fix his work ethic soars with the phase of a new task but he becomes frustrated easily with it. As Jacob’s problems mount and the light at the end of the tunnel seem to not be there he becomes dangerously close to relapsing into dangerous hard drug use. Jacob's Audition Scenarios 1. You’re asleep and you wake up and your attention is suddenly caught by dampness by your groin, you pat the area and in disbelief you can’t believe that you have pissed your pants. 2. You want to punch through this padding. It embodies a problem in your life which you really hate about yourself. Even though you concentrate hard your sometimes strong/limp punches do not seem to make a dent, you are very frustrated by this because you are looking to speed the process because you have the belief that it is possible to punch a clean hole through any material with clear concentration. 3. In a huddled ball/or not. You are heaving, pacing, sweating, twitching and fidgeting with withdrawal symptoms. BRIAN – Brain is Jacob’s best friend. He is carefree and lives by the doctrine of “Not giving a f---“. He is always enthusiastic and loud regardless of whoever maybe in the room because of this sometimes he comes off a touch rude – but he does not care. He also does not have a care in the world for the dangers of regular hard drug use; in fact he wants to die this way. He regularly is in awash of another crack high or alcoholic binge. Although Brian respects Jacob’s umpteenth time at quitting drug use, he seeks to have his past loud “partner in crime” restored with him to recommence and partake in regular past mischievous behaviour. Brian is very talkative, though may hesitate a bit with strangers – for a moment. He is always seeking the next fun filled outing filled with drugs, alcohol and women. It is typically all he looks out for in life. He is always smiling and he talks a lot with his arms flapping through the air. He is around the same age. Audition Scenarios 1. Talk random s--- about anything and everything with a drug induced smile and make sure you switch mid sentence into other tangents. 2. You’re a very outgoing person who is fuelled by narcotics - try to persuade a friend that this is in fact the way life is suppose to be. 3. Talk about masturbation or a past nights drug use with extreme positive recollection/reflection.
