VOLUNTEER ACTORS REQUIRED FOR CURTIN UNI SHORT FILM ASSIGNMENT A five-minute drama production entitled “The Five-Minute Kid”. This script was awarded a High Distinction and is a powerful character-driven piece. An excellent challenge for the enthusiastic actor. SHOOTING DETAILS: * It is envisaged that shooting will take place over two or three days (not necessarily consecutive), depending on availability of all involved, between May 1st and June 1st 2006, at a house in the suburbs of Perth (location yet to be decided). * This is unpaid work, but we are willing to pay for any travelling expenses to and from the location, as well as food and beverages. * You will receive a copy of the finished film. CHARACTERS REQUIRED: * Travis: Main character. 17-year-old Australian boy, pref. with blue eyes. A character struggling with the problems of separated parents, drug pressures from friends, run-ins with the police etc. * Steven: Travis’ father, middle-aged Australian man, pref. with blue eyes. A hard, unsympathetic and cruel man. Opportunity to display excellent acting skills. * Marie: Steven’s middle-aged wife, relatively small role. * Minor Characters: Steven and Marie’s 17-year-old son and two younger children, and a policeman (costume can be provided). SYNOPSIS This is a poignant dramatic piece about a 17-year-old boy who goes to Melbourne to find his Dad after many years apart. Why have they been apart for so long? What is behind Travis’ sudden visit? What is Steven hiding about his son’s past? Slowly but surely the truth comes out. How will it all end?
