The Business of Auditioning Workshop - Dec 3 & 10, 2005
Thu, 24 Nov 2005, 11:01 amThe Business of Auditioning
Auditions. The one thing nearly every actor dreads most, and yet we must all go through them. This workshop is designed to dispel the myths and non-effective habits we all form to get through this sometimes anxious, yet ultimately necessary experience. We can't make you enjoy auditioning, but we can certainly help you feel more confident when doing them!
The first Saturday will be spent preparing an audition scene, discussion of the professional audition process as a whole, CV and headshot preparation (the "tools" of the trade) and notes given for the students to work on over the following week on their pieces. Will also include taking a digital photo of each student in natural lighting to be used for their audition on the following Saturday, if they do not already have a headshot.
On the second Saturday, the morning will be spent revising the work from the previous week, with students undertaking an audition with established and well-respected Melbourne Film & Television Casting Director, Jo Rippon (Wicked Science, Ocean Girl, Scooter Secret Agent, Backberner, Pirate Island, My Brother Jack, The Wog Boy, etc) in the afternoon, which will be put on tape, concluding with feedback on their work.
Students will be asked to prepare a scene, selected by the tutors prior to the class. Students are also asked to bring their headshots and CV's (if they have them) for the practical "tools of the trade" session.
