"Seussical" @ Playlovers
Tue, 14 Feb 2006, 08:22 pmGreetings...
The Great Seussical will be on stage at Playlovers April 21st to May 6th. Bookings open Monday - 0415 777 173 or bookings@playlovers.org.au -and in the meantime, if you haven't seen "The Judas Kiss" yet... you only have Wed, Fri and Sat left - get cracking!!
"I do not like Green Eggs and Ham
I do not like them
Sam, I am"
We all grew up with Dr Seuss and the 'Cat in the Hat', 'Green Eggs and Ham', etc - now Playlovers bring Seuss and all the wonderful characters to life.
"Seussical" is suitable for all ages and is a great family show, it is NOT specifically a "children's show", however is suitable for kids. With over 40 incredibly talented cast members, only 7 are children.
If auditions were anything to go by - this show is certain to be a hit!!
Seussical auditioned on January 15th. After over 130 audition enquires, we eventually auditioned 84 very talented people. The production team saw the first audition at 9am and continued, almost without breaks, until around 11pm.
The overall standard of the auditions was amazing, with person after person producing outstanding performances. It would not be exaggerating to say that we could have cast the show (well) by lunchtime or cast three times over – with the third cast still being an impressive cast.
For those unfamiliar with the show, Seussical is a celebration of many of the best loved stories of Dr Seuss. While certainly NOT aimed at kids, it is suitable for all ages and is a great show for families.
With music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Aherns (Ragtime) the songs are wonderful and with the co-conceiver Eric Idle it is more than a little off-beat (excuse the pun). We are sure you will love Seussical the Musical.

[in the recent Playlovers Newsletter, it was indicated that this was specifically a kids show - blame it on the kid inside the editor - my apologies to the Director]
