Philadelphia Story - Still looking for one actor
Thu, 29 Sept 2005, 08:28 pmThe Old Mill Theatre is looking for a male actor aged between 25 and 40 to play in a production of The Philadelphia Story running between 18 November and 3 December.
The Philadelphia Story is a romantic comedy set in 1930s America. The play tells the story of Tracy Lord, the daughter of a wealthy and privileged Philadelphia family on the eve of her second marriage. In the midst of the rush of preparations, family tensions and dealing with the intrusion of magazine reporters she finds herself suddenly uncertain and questioning not only herself but whether sheÂ’s walking down the aisle to the right man.
The part available will be either Dexter Haven, ex-husband of Tracy, who comes back into her life and eventually wins her back, or Mike Connor, a magazine reporter who falls in love with her despite his better judgment.
This play was turned into a very successful movie starring Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant (as Dexter). It was later turned into a musical and re-filmed as High Society with Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly. The play has been revived in a London theatre production during the last year with Kevin Spacey playing Dexter.
The rest of the cast have been chosen and rehearsals start immediately.
The Old Mill Theatre is on the corner of Mill Point Rd and Mends St, South Perth. We are a community theatre group and all actors are unpaid volunteers.
Interested men should contact Susan Lynch on 9310 1448 or
