FREE Comedy shows This Weekend!!!
Sun, 18 Sept 2005, 07:37 pmSTIRLING GETS READY TO LAUGH IT UP!
City of Stirling residents are about to get their funny bones tickled with the Laugh It Up!
Comedy Festival at Perth College on Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September
2005.
Some of PerthÂ’s most laughed at comedians, Jimmy James Eaton, Claire Hooper, Ollie
Raison, John McAllister and Xavier Michelides will showcase their own brand of hilarious
humour over the three-night comedy fest.
Jimmy James Eaton gained the title of WA state champion in the Triple J Raw Comedy
competition in 2003 and performed at the 2003 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
He has also worked as a television and radio presenter.
Claire Hooper has performed stand up and improvised comedy all over Australia and the UK.
Claire was recently seen on RoveLive (May 05) and performed at the sell-out, ‘newcomer
showÂ’ the Comedy Zone as part of the 2005 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Claire was also the winner of the Triple J Raw Comedy competition in 2004.
Ollie Raison has been performing stand up in Perth since February 2004.
Fresh from his first Melbourne stand up tour earlier this January, Ollie is a regular performer
at many of the local comedy lounges in Perth. You can also hear him every Saturday
afternoon on RTR’s two-hour comedy show, ‘The Dead Set’.
Xavier Michelides has just finished a WA tour of the successful Barking Gecko ChildrenÂ’s
Theatre show Primates. His comedic talents saw him crowned the national winner of the
Triple J Raw Comedy award for 2001. Xavier has also acted as stand-up support for Tripod,
Lano and Woodley, and Dave Hughs.
John McAllister is Perth’s only “Comedian/Plasterer”. He is planning a National tour in 2025
when his plastering work slows down!
The Laugh It Up! Comedy Festival also brings the hilarious antics of The BIG HOO-HAA.
The Big HOO-HAA is now in its fourth year and highly acclaimed as improvised madness!
Two teams of comedians take suggestions from the audience and improvise comedy
sketches, songs, soap operas and stand up routines.
The Laugh It Up! line-up all hail from the Lazy SusanÂ’s Comedy Den, upstairs at the Brisbane
Hotel.
Laugh It Up! is the first event to kick off the 2005/06 City of Stirling Event Calendar, and is
bound to be a barrel of laughs!
