Re: new aussie theatre
Hello brad
Why not ask if a group can take a play down to Margaret River as your fundraiser. If you could organise accomodation so the event is cost effective to the travelling group, they get a weekend in Margaret River and you get your fundraiser.
Also look at grants for country arts councils.

Go to:
http://www.scriptcircle.co.uk/index.php?pg=51&action=script&id=55
This is a 30-minute play (drama), one set, 2F, 1M. No royalties for your fund-raiser.

Re: new aussie theatre
brad,
would be interested in hearing more about how you are going raising funds for the local arts council. i think this is perhaps something we all could approach our local councils with and encourage them to foster new art in the community. please, if you have time, give us a wee run down on the way you got this initiative started and what councillors got behind it and how many folk are involved in the creative process. thanks in anticipation,
mick

Hi Brad
I'm just around the corner in Busselton & I'm looking for something similar for our one act season on August (not so noble a cause as your's I'm afraid). I would appreciate any of your cast off ideas !
In the meantime I'm thinking of the following (but not sure of any costs yet)
http://www.scriptcircle.co.uk/index.php?pg=51&action=script&id=68

cheers
