The REAL INSPECTOR HOUND opens tomorrow
Wed, 2 Feb 2005, 10:57 amAttic Theatre Company creates hilarious murder-mystery mayhem in St GeorgeÂ’s Courtyard
Having delighted Perth audiences with A Christmas Carol and As You Like It, Attic Theatre Company launches headlong into the final play of its courtyard summer season with the screamingly funny The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard.
When two critics, Moon and Birdboot, attend a new murder-mystery play, they are catapulted into the world of Agatha Christie, complete with lonely, fog-bound house, ill-assorted guests and a mysterious madman loose on the moors. And just who is the dead body hidden under the sofa? For that matter, where is Inspector Hound?
With more twists and turns than a rollercoaster, the play takes an unexpected loop when one of the critics is drawn into the action on the stage - leaving the remaining critic to solve the crime.
“Like much of Stoppard’s work, The Real Inspector Hound is clever, witty and hilariously funny,” said director Stephen Lee. “Love, jealousy, ambition and madness are all mixed together, taking audiences on an action-packed ride that will leave them breathless with enjoyment.”
Patrons will once again be able to relax and picnic with friends and family in the grassy, cloistered courtyard of St George's College before enjoying this latest offering from a talented local cast including Kim Martin, Graham Mitchell and Ben Russell who all appeared for Attic Theatre in either A Christmas Carol or As You Like It. They are joined by popular Perth actors Alinta Carroll, Andie Wafer and Katy Warner while outstanding comic talents Giovanni Bartuccio and Craig Williams take on the roles of the critics, Moon and Birdboot.

In a special bonus, each performance of The Real Inspector Hound will be preceded by a presentation of the short piece The Bear by Anton Chekov, with Attic Theatre Company artistic director Stephen Lee and the ever popular Angelique Malcolm (Hotel Sorrento, A Christmas Carol) taking the lead roles. This is a wonderful opportunity for Attic Theatre Company audiences to see the magic that ensues when these two talented actors share a stage.
