Congratulations Marloo Theatre
Thu, 6 Jan 2005, 09:54 amCongratulations to Marloo Theatre - having raised over $3,500 for Tsunami Victims.
Last night I attended Marloo Theatre's "Tsunami Disaster Variety Concert"... what a brilliant night.
To me - this is what community theatre is all about... in one week Marloo Theatre put together an incredibly professional show complete with performances from the junior Marloovians with their oustanding and bright tap dancing.
With only one week to organise and publicise, the community and friends of Marloo Theatre were entertained by some wonderful flaminco and belly dancing including a brilliant comedy tap dancing number by Buddy Clarke, fantastic singing and some hilarious comedy along with the fabulous Pip Colbourne on piano. I wish I had a programme to be able to congratulate and name every single person involved but with only one week to organise that is totally understandable. I enjoyed every performance including Neroli Burton's wonderful drunken champagne song (sorry I forget the title).
The theatre was to full capacity and congratulations to all the volunteers that put the night together in particular to Gail who organised and coordinated the event.
Those that couldn't make it along last night missed out on a brilliant evening and social event. There were some regular patrons who couldn't make it but still donated to this worthy cause.
All door sales, raffle money and bar sales are being donated to the Red Cross and it was announced at the end of the night that although a final figure had not been finalised as yet... the total is estimated to come in at over $3,500.... AN INCREDIBLE EFFORT !!
Congratulations again Marloo... like I said before - this is a brilliant example of the heart and soul of community theatre.
