Great play!
Mon, 11 Oct 2004, 12:41 amHey all,
I found a fantastic play on the internet called "Bang Bang You're Dead" and I am really interested in putting it on somewhere in Perth, not just at my school. Next year i may get the opportunity to direct and perform the play at Mt Lawley SHS but i feel that it is such a good play with relative social commentary and although it is set in the U.S.A. it is relative to us all.
I'm only sixteen, I've had a lot of experience in previous school plays both in acting, s.m., f.o.h. and directing but as I said that is within school I was just wondering if anyone had any advice of how to get this fantastic play out there to a broader audience?
If anyone wants to read it, you can download it from www.bangbangyouredead.com (I know who would have have guessed right)
Thanks,
Nicole
Thou warped knotty-pated hugger-mugger!
Hey wow my friend and I found out what hugger-mugger meant the other day!
(I thought, just in case people started thinking that a teenager could possibly be someone with initiative who was mature, responsible, passionate and creative, I would write that. Now you can continue thinking of all teenage girls as ditsy, desperate, ungrateful fools...Have I returned to the status quo yet?...Hmmm maybe that wasn't enough...Oh I know! "Giv me an acting job pleeez i wan2 b famus thatz all i eva wanted"...Yep that'll do it)

Hi Nicole,
If my memory serves me correctly isn't this the play that can be performed without having to pay any copyright fees, there are probably lots of conditions, but it has been very successful in the United States.
There was a film version out last year staring Randy Harrison from 'Queer as Folk' and Janel Maloney from 'The West Wing'.
It is such a topical and useful play in terms of education and debate there may be quite a lot of opportunities to gain funding or support for a production.
The Blue Room, The Department of Education or Propelarts may be good place to start your quest.
Good Luck,
Graeme Watson
