Election Day
Sat, 9 Oct 2004, 11:48 amSome election day musing.
• Neither of the main parties are interested in the arts
• Neither leader has mentioned them as a personal interest
• The current government is reducing available funding, either by not increasing previous allocations, or actual cuts.
• The real cost of living has increased by about 25% since the introduction of the GST, introduced by the Liberal Party and the only reason it became law was the Democrats.
• The only way to encourage business to provide support – i.e. money – to the arts, is by governments enthusiastically promoting the arts as something business should support.
So when you got to the polling booth today, ask the person pushing the “How to Vote” card into your hands, what their party plans for the arts and have your Bullshit Antenna on red alert.
Best of luck
