South West Drama Festival Winners

Congratulations to Bunbury Repertory Club on their presentation of the 25th
annual South West Drama Festival. A great time was had by all and the
winners are as follows:

Youth Section:
Certificates of Merit were awarded to:
Amanda Woodward in "Dreamwalk" (Stirling Players Youth)
Claire Bailey in "The Empty Chair" (Stagelight Youth Theatre)

The BREC Club Encouragement Award was presented to Bunbury Junior Repertory
for "Top Table"

The Best Original Play Award was presented to Dardanup Primary School for
"Just Another Day"

The Iluka Resources Trophy for Best Youth Production was presented to "The
Empty Chair" (Stagelight Youth Theatre)


Main Section:
Certificates of Merit were awarded to:

Bridgetown Repertory Club for an intriguing set in "The Cell"
Karratha Community Theatre for their costumes and 'living set' in "The
Curse of Captain Carr"
Kwinana Theatre Workshop for a lovely, effective set in "Costa Del Packet"
Garrick Theatre for a fine set in "Incident"
Garrick Theatre for excellent sound effects in "Incident"
Irish Theatre Players for set dressing in "Bedtime Stories"
Sally Sainsbury for an excellent performance in "Reese & Babe" (KADS)
Karratha Community Theatre for their soundscape (too much applause - didn't
catch which play)

The Alex Shura Award for Best Character Actor (Female) was awarded to Zoe
Robbins in "Costa Del Packet" (Kwinana Theatre Workshop)

The May Dunn Award for Best Character Actor (Male) was awarded to Peter
Niblett in "Reese & Babe" (KADS)

The Jackson/Reeve Award for Best Original Play was awarded to Noel O'Neill
for "Candles in the Rain" (The Studio Theatre Company)

Best Supporting Actor - Rob Gill in "Candles in the Rain" (The Studio
Theatre Company)

Best Supporting Actress - Mavis Glewis in "Thermal Underwear" (Melville
Theatre Company)

Best Actor - David McGarr in "One for the Road" (Blak Yak Theatre)

Best Actress - Sherryl Spencer in "Heide's Last Hit" (Blak Yak Theatre)

Best Director - Jarrod Buttery for "Heide's Last Hit" (Blak Yak Theatre)

Best Production - "Zoo Story" (Mandurah Little Theatre)
