This is Garrick Theatre's second season of Sandy Dennis's The Boy Friend. Their first season was twenty years ago and most of the cast of the 2004 season were not even born then!

The 2004 cast have a fresh, innocent and energetic approach to the evergreen musical with promises to make it a memorable occasion for all who manage to get tickets.

Despite their youth most of the cast have formidable credentials in dancing, singing and acting. Many have been in recent productions of Grease, Carousel, and Annie.

Julie Andrews rose to world fame in this English musical which tells the tale of Polly, a Roaring Twenties 'poor little rich' girl attending a French finishing school and longing for a boy friend who is not a fortune hunter. She finds a messenger boy who fits her criteria and they fall in love. As in all good romantic stories, the path to happiness is always bumpy but all is solved during a spectacular Carnivale Ball.

Director Louise Flavelle is new to the Garrick Theatre but is not new to the Perth Theatre. She cut her 'teeth' at Patch, and the old Rep and with Kira Bousloff. She has worked in theatre in Melbourne, Canberra and New South Wales and gained academic qualifications at UWA. She has taught and mentored hundreds of school children and adults in Theatre and encouraged many of them who have made it to WAAPA, NIDA, and the VCA. Come and enjoy the live and catchy tunes, the Charleston and other energetic dances, and the lovely romantic story. Dress up in 1920s clothing for fun.
