I have had the privelege of judging five of the north of the river heats for this competition. I would like to say that the standard on the whole has been excellent. Those entrants that have been chosen for the semi-final are of a very high standard, and will be able to compete admirably with the other contestants chosen from across the state.

In response to the comments made earlier by a "judge?'"from the belmont heats??? The contestants may have entered the competition for different reasons. Some may have just wanted to "give it a go" for experience, or because it might be fun, but the majority of contestants have entered because they are serious about wanting to make it in the world of theatre or musical theatre.

Of course the standards may vary, and it is important to encourage any young person to give it a go if they wish. However the young people who were chosen to represent their heats in further rounds were serious about their presentations, and continuing on with an acting career and were of an extremely high standard.

The purpose of the qualifiying heats anyway, is to choose those who have a chance to be competitive in a state wide field.

I commend the organisers of all of these heats. From what I have seen they have done an excellent job. A lot of thought, planning and effort has gone into this whole competition, and all involved are to be congratulated!

If you have not yet caught a heat, or wish to see the semi-finals or grand finals, I recommend you get organised and support this worthy competition.

The Storm the Stage link is on stormthestage.com.au for all the information about the coming rounds. Good luck to all competitors.Keep up the good work!

Re: Storm the Stage Heats

Hi Christine

You are perfectly right in your assumptions and comments. If I could point out that this competition is about giving young people an opportunity to show us their talent, not about creating a negative atmosphere for them.

By the way, the website address is www.stormthestage.com , (no au on the end.)

Check it out with the new information concerning the semi finals!
