Drama School Audition Preparation:
The aim of this course is to demystify the audition process for entry to the major drama schools. The course covers monologue selection, preparation and execution. Students will learn how to approach acting using the system favoured by the major Australian drama schools, learning the tools required to prepare and perform a contemporary and classical monologue. In addition, exercises in voice, movement and improvisation likely to be encountered at these auditions are covered. The course culminates in a mock drama school audition.
Dates: Commencing last week August
Time: 6:30pm- 9:30pm
Cost: $385
Venue: TBC
(Intake is limited to 12 students per class to ensure individual attention.)
Screenacting/ Screentesting Technique:
Taken one night a week over eight consecutive weeks this course teaches how to achieve the perfect screentest every time. Students are taught key aspects of professional film and television protocol, acting and auditioning. Students are issued with a tape of their work whereby they can critically assess and improve their work from class to class.
Dates: Commencing last week August
Time: 6:30pm-10:30pm
Cost: $385

Introduction To Acting:
This course provides an ideal introduction to acting. The course introduces actors to the key elements of drama, a solid applicable acting technique and the confidence to apply it to performance. We cover exercises in voice, movement and improvisation to help us uncover the imaginative choices available to the actor. At the end of the course students will present a short scene to the class. The course runs over 8 weeks/ one night a week or may be offered over 4 consecutive Sundays.

Time: Weeknights 6:30- 9:30pm
Sundays 11am-5:30pm
Cost: $385

Building A Character/ Scenework:
This course extends the work taught in the Introduction to Acting course with a greater emphasis placed on approaching a scene within itÂ’s context as part of a whole play or performance. Students are exposed to more advanced methods of character development whilst encouraged to maintain truth in the performance of a scene.

About your tutor:
Phil graduated from NIDA in 2000. He has appeared in film, theatre, musical theatre, theatre restaurant and television including Outriders, The Legacy Of The Silver Shadow, and most recently Blue Heelers. He has taught Performing Shakespeare, Scenework, Stage and Screen, Performing a Character, Audition Preparation and Introduction To Acting for the NIDA touring/open programmes. For Re:Actor Acting Services@ Fox Studios he taught Screentesting Technique, On Camera Classes, Drama School Audition Technique and the Agents Showcase. He brings the benefit of his experience of acting technique and the industry on the east coast to his home town of Perth for a second year following the success of last years classes.
