BSX double bill tonight and tomorrow!
Fri, 18 June 2004, 09:24 amCome and see the future stars of the perth theatre scene. The youth arm of Black Swan - Be Active BSX - is coming to the end of its season at the dolphin theatre - don't miss out!
STRIPTEASE is one of Polish playwright Slawomir MrozekÂ’s greatest works. Two men battle out their ideas of freedom, only to be absurdly confronted by two giant hands. The walls are closing in on them as they are stripped of their clothes and identity.
MOUNTAIN LANGUAGE is one of Harold PinterÂ’s most shocking works. The mountain people are no longer allowed to speak their language. Their world has been invaded, controlled and will soon be destroyed.
Two world classics, re-invented by a young cast of over 20 actors. A bold double-bill with comedy and darkness; where language and imagery meet on the edge of contemporary issues and conflicts. The cast of Be Active BSX-Theatre members breathe life into these texts, finding horrific and potent links to what we see in the daily press.
Collaborations with a professional creative team (design/puppetry Bryan Woltjen, lighting design Nick Higgens) with direction from Be Active BSX-Theatre’s Artistic Director Matthew Lutton (Bed, The Bald Prima Donna – Best production WA Fringe 2003), has led to the creation of a visually rich, surreal and pertinent double-bill that will challenge a wide audience.
"At the age of 19, Lutton has both a vision and skill that belie his youth" The West Australian, February 12, 2004.
Season: June 10 – 19, Tues – Sat @ 7.30pm
Venue: Dolphin Theatre, University of Western Australia
Tickets: Full $18, Concession $15, BSX/School Student $10
Bookings: BOCS on (08) 9484 1133
