On reading the classifieds, I couldn't help but noticing how many young people are out there looking for opportunities to perform in projects and/or do further training in Theatre.
Just a note to let people know that SPY operates a special programme for young people between the ages of 13-21 on a Wednesday night at the Stirling Theatre in innaloo in Western Australia.
It will be commencing on Wednesday the 27th April for the remainder of the year from 7-9pm.
We cover all different aspects of the theatre, not just acting, which gives aspiring artists an overall theatre education.
We will be having a series of workshops next term on different topics. Later on in the year, we hope to have some professional teachers come in and focus on their specialty areas.
Any enquiries to

YOUTH & THEATRE & WEBSITE

Good on you SPY (Stirling)

I thought I would also mention that Marloo Theatre (Darlington Theatre Players) have also started up a Youth Theatre...
contact:- LaVerne at - laverne@kirtons.com

ALSO -
The Independent Theatre Association has just started up a YOUTH NEWSLETTER - if you would like further information on the newsletter and group, please contact Kimberley Shaw at - yak@git.com.au

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Now I would just like to say - that I think it is fabulous for us to encourage the youth... get into it - be brave - have fun.... Theatre is an outlet that has sooo many positives to list here...

So my message to the youth who visit this site.... PLEASE get in contact with these places.... this is YOUR outlet ... and we all look forward to meeting you and watching you grow with each and every performance...

However - watching you all put adverts for yourselves up here is not only dangerous to yourselves with the unknown out there in cyberspace... we want to protect you... but very annoying for everyone to watch your personal adverts come up....

I would absolutely dread it if the Vintage Youth (hehehe - that's all ages apart from the young youth we're talking about here) - were to start advertising themselves on the site too...

If you're interested in theatre/acting/directing/back stage or whatever - get out there - join a club - get involved... you will only get somewhere by networking - unfortunately placing adverts for yourselves on websites - is allowing nasty pasties out there to network to you and chances are they will abuse your trust... sorry - but it's a fact of life !!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - contact the above clubs -
Stirling Theatre Players (SPY - Stirling Players Youth)
Marloo Theatre (Darlington Theatre) Youth
and the Independent Theatre Association -

We want to encourage you ... not frighten you... it costs nothing to become involved and have fun with theatre...

I hope you all do...

Cheers
Melz

Re: YOUTH & THEATRE & WEBSITE

I fully agree with Melanie and would like to add another youth theatre outlet which is just starting up at the Old Mill Theatre in South Perth.
PLAYTIME THEATR INC. is about to commence classes on Saturday mornings for young people from 9 to 18 years, there will be two groups, roughly corresponding to primary and secondary school ages.
Classes will be in term times and involve all aspects of theatrical skills.
Contact Erin on 0439.922.977
Enrolment day is Saturday May 1st
