The 2003 Annual Finley Awards Night
Sat, 27 Dec 2003, 01:01 pmJust a reminder that the 2003 Annual Finley Awards Night ('The Finleys') is almost upon us.
WA Community Theatre's night of glamour will be held January 10 at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre, Canning Rd, Kalamunda. The proceedings begin at 7.30pm.
You can enjoy excerpts from some of the productions of 2003 as well as enjoying fantastic company and being the first to find out who will take home the coveted Finley Awards.
Tickets ($12) are available through club secretaries or by phoning 9291 5045 (or email yak@git.com.au ). While great seats are still available, the night did sell out last year and if you leave it to the last minute you may be disappointed.

Re: The 2003 Annual Finley Awards Night
This is not anything whatsover to do with the Finley Award, but .....
If anyone was awake at 6.45 this morning then they would have heard John Flood give out his "Floodies" on ABC 720.
His pick: Best Play -Noises Off. Best Musical - Pageant
Flood's Innovations Award - Melville Theatre Company for taking a production to Kalgoorlie.
Thou dankish pottle-deep flax-wench!

Re: The 2003 Annual Finley Awards Night
Hi Kim (and everyone else),
Can you tell us what excerpts will be presented on the evening?
(Just in case anyone isn't aware, the ITA Finley Awards Night is not just about distributing a handful of awards, it presents excerpts from plays and musicals of the preceeding year - highlights from 2003.)
I know the sexy and controversial "Psycho Beach Party" will be featured, and also a little thing called "Pageant", but what else?
Cheers,
JB

Re: The 2003 Annual Finley Awards Night
Hi Jarrod
An excellent question! As I was fortunate enough to be at the rehearsal yesterday then I am able to answer you.
On the night, there will be excerpts from the following plays/musicals.
Pageant - Playlovers
Puss In Boots - Garrick
Wallflowering - Darlington
Psycho Beach Party - Blak Yak
Regards to Broadway II - Roleystone
A Chorus of Disapproval - Old Mill
South Pacific - Marloo
So I think you can see that there will be something for everyone. I hope that answers your question Jarrod and I am sure I will see you on Saturday night at the Finleys!
Kerri

Re: The 2003 Annual Finley Awards Night
Why, thank you ladies. As I said, I'd heard "Pageant" was to be featured, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing it - even a small bit - again. In fact, just between you and me, "Pageant" is my pick for Best Musical. For completeness, I'd better say that "Noises Off" is my pick for Play of the Year.
Anyone else wanna give their picks?
JB
(Standard disclaimer: Please note that during 2003 I had no affiliation with the ITA nor its team of adjudicators. I have NO IDEA what's going to win - these are simply guesses based upon what productions I DID see.)
