Re: help
I was once told to do this just before an audition to calm nerves. Clasp your hands together really tightly while breathing in deeply for about 5 seconds then release the pressure while releasing the breath slowly for about ten counts. Do this a few times and imagine all the tension flowing out of your body with the breath out.
Lying in semi-supine (ie: on your back with knees up) and just concentrating on slowing your breathing can help too but you may not feel comfortable lying down in the foyer! Both of these exercises do help me a little but I don't think anything takes all the anxiety away.
Make sure you know your audition piece back to front so that you don't have the extra worry about whether you'll forget your lyrics or the like. Have fun and good luck.
