Larrikin Theatre - The Stones
Mon, 10 Feb 2003, 02:25 amG'day folks. Haven't stuck my head in for a while, I've been in Melbourne rehearsing our production for the Perth Fringe of "The Stones". Opens Wednesday night for two weeks at the Rechabites - check the What's On section.
I reckon it's a bloody ripper of a play, which is why we formed a company (Larrikin) to co-produce it. The cast is myself and Sam Longley. We had one final-dress performance to a small invited crowd at Circus Oz in Melbourne (where we rehearsed), and the response was terrific. In the theatre with lights it'll be magic.
Hope to see you, and to hear/read how you respond.
Cheers,
Craig Williams

Hi Everyone
I was lucky enough to attend a launch of this play and it does look fantastic.
I would urge people to go and see this show and to support Larrikin theatre.
Looking forward to Wednesday.

More blatant self promotion....(Okay, very blatant).
Just home after our opening night of "The Stones". Pretty blown away by the awesome response. We pretty well filled the Rechabites (there was one free seat...where were YOU?) and several people up the back gave us a standing ovation...! (or maybe they just had cramps in their legs?)
I reckon we can pretty well guarantee you a good show. I'm bloody proud of it. If you think you've ever seen me sweat in a performance you haven't seen anything compared to this...and for those who know me that's saying something!
It wasn't all perfect praise - at least two people gave me some interesting criticism over some fine details. I'd love any of you to come along and rip into me for once!
As far as the bookings go, it's all pretty light. I know, it's a festival, and there's heaps of competition. But also I'm hoping people will walk in rather than book - saves the BOCS bookings fee.
Love to see you there early on. I don't usually feel this compelled to drum up a crowd, but this show feels like a career highlight and I just want to share it.
Should be a review in the papers soon, if you really need more convincing.
Cheers,
Craig

Re: Larrikin Theatre - The Stones
Hi Everyone
Well, I was one of the people at the show last night and it is an excellent one.
The pace, the energy , the physical theatre, the message, the characterisation, are all excellent and this show does deserve our support.
It isn't a long show, so for those of you who don't like the Rechabites theatre, that is no excuse either. I left the theatre last night at 9.20pm.
The pure enthusiasm and the love of performing the piece is very evident and should be an example to many other performers.
I would strongly suggest you see this show.
A great job Craig and Sam, well done!

....and, Mr Malcom, this site features in the acknowlegements.
I felt a warm and fuzzy glow on your behalf!
Go on. Get off your computer and go see it! (Not you, specifically Granty - I mean everyone.)
