After a glorious honeymoon at the Plaza Hotel, Corie & Paul Bratter are starting their new life in a dodgy New York apartment. Corie the romantic idealist attempts to impose love & adventure on everyone around her, including her widowed mother & the eccentric upstairs neighbour, despite her practical, career-oriented husband Paul’s better judgement. After a disasterous night on the town, Corie & Paul’s differences get the better of them, & it looks as if their 6 day marriage is over – can their love overcome a leaky roof, crazy neighbours & their conflicting world views?

A semi-autobiographical romantic comedy by Neil Simon, Barefoot In The Park ran for 1530 performances, & was later made into a film starring Robert Redford & Jane Fonda. The play offers insight into love & life, & lets us laugh at the way little differences can escalate, unless couples learn to give & take.

Barefoot In The Park will be playing at Marloo Theatre in Darlington from February 5th – what could make a nicer Valentine’s Day date than to head for the Hills & watch a couple of newlyweds having their first fight?
