I just got a password for my compnay using a password that isnt even with the company.

There's no change of policy here.
:-)
I've never had any effective means of identifying whether someone should or should not have access to a company's password. The Internet is a very anonymous medium. For the last four years, if someone mailed me asking for a password, i've sent it to them. There were prominent notices all over the site telling people if they wanted a password to just mail and ask for one.

Yep. And you didn't have to wait a couple of days for me to get around to looking it up and mailing it out to you. Hands up all those that have been stuck in that situation.
:-)

In spite of handing out hundreds of passwords on the slightest whim over the last 4 years, i've not had a single case of someone complaining that a password has been abused. The entire site has been built on trust and voluntary effort.

I understand your concern at realising that anyone can retrieve a password automatically via email. I really should have provided more - hell, no: some! - notice to people that this was how i was planning this would operate. (i have been threatening it in discussion on the boards for some time!) Even if it's not that much different to how things have always operated. As you can imagine, i've had my hands full managing the update.
:-)
However, if you really don't like it you can change it. Edit your company. Change the automatic password retrieval setting. No-one will be able to retrieve your company password automatically. All requests for a password will be mailed to the company email address.
If you then change the company password, even people that may have slipped in and retrieved a password before you changed the setting will now be locked out.
Hope you like it a little better now.
Cheers
Grant
