WARNING
Sat, 2 Feb 2002, 12:41 pmTo all clubs who have scheduled a season around Easter time.
In spite of the liberalistaion of what we can or can't do/watch on Good Friday, live performance is still not permitted!
We have received informatiopn from official sources that "Public live theatrical performances are not permittted on Good Friday" This year the date is March 29
Several clubs have scheduled shows around that time so please take note of this restriction and reschedule your performances accordingly

RE: WARNING
Aaaah, so at least one club in WA (shhh) broke the law last year.
Goodness, I wonder what would happen if you 'got caught'.

RE: WARNING
Further to my warning about "live performances" on Good Friday.
Apparantly it's the remains of very early laws on what is or is not "proper" on this day. It seems that while the law has over time been amended liveshows are still outlawed. I am awaiting clarification from the Min of Fair Trading.
Presumably the matter has not been deemed of sufficient importance to bring up to date! My source of info is a senior politician.
As far as I can see the only way to get something done is for all theatre etc to lobby for a change, although I imagine it is not on the Government 's high priority list!

RE: WARNING
Nobody has said yet what would happen if a company did put on a show on Good Friday. Does anyone actually know the penalty for this? With a law this old and archaic I imagine it would be something like a public flogging with the old cat-o-ninetails (I'm just making this too easy for the assortment of perverts who frequent this site, aren't I?)

RE: WARNING
Re the subject of Live performances and Good Friday;
The Sunday Trading Act says (in precis) that no performance of live entertainment subject to the payment of money for admission or by way of token, coupon, or payment of any kind is permitted on Christmas Day or Good Friday. Originally this included Sundays but now the only two restricted days are as above.
Penalty is a fine and which of us can afford that???????
The Minister has the power to make exceptions, so if you feel it's worth the effort, by all means apply. I have no idea how long this application would take. Most of the affected companies have chosen to not perform that day and substitute an alternative.
If you want more information call the Min of fair Trading from whom my information has come directly

RE: WARNING
The penalty......gees.....lessee....if my vague and suppressed memories of the Catholism I had shoved down my throat since birth serve me correctly, the President of the offending club:
- will be tried by a bloke called Pilate
- marched up a hill, dragging a tree behind them
- get to the top, get nailed (and not in the good way)
- hang there singing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life".
Later their plight will be turned into a ripper moosickal by Webber/Rice and some bloke called Peter will found a religion around them.
Go for it I say!!!! While we're at it, let's have a Naked Pagan Feast and partake in the BBQed flesh of Rev Fred de-Nile!
Just some ideas.....

RE: WARNING
Well it may be against the law,but probably would not be inforced(a bit like homosexuality in WA before 1989)if your club intends to perform DO IT!!Then attention can be drawn to a ridiculous law and then something might be done about it!
But I doubt it
Thankyou Norma for the warning though!
