How Do You Find Auditions For A 13 yr old????????
Wed, 23 Jan 2002, 06:43 pmHi my name is Kim Aldover. I am 13 years old and I want to know where to look for auditions for t.v shows or comercials and maybe theatre. There is usually an age limit for most theatre plays and they usually require people ages 16+. Am I going to fast? should i attend a drama school or agency first. If anyone knows about any auditions for people 13+ please tell me send me info on it.

You didn't say which state you were in. If you are in Brisbane, let me know and I can give you some resources.
You don't need an agent initially. Get some work first and build up your experience and also network to find a reputable agent that will deliver.
Call the local theatre groups and ask to be put on a mailing list for forthcoming auditions.
Contact a few casting agents and enquire about forthcoming auditions. You may get lucky. They also offer short courses on screen skills and audition techniques and can give advice on good agents.
Check the saturday paper for audition notices and call the City council in your state for a lists of events and festivals. Then pick up the phone and make enquiries. Often they have a budget for youth involvement and you may get paid.
Go surfing for sites that list auditions notices in your state or cater for 'youth' activities.
start getting some work you will make a network of friends and contacts and will probably be ready for an agent.

If you are in Brisbane, check out the Brisbane Arts Theatre. They do pantomines like Peter Pan (for which auditions are being held for soon) and the cast is mainly people around your age.
