Formatting
Tue, 27 Aug 2013, 10:09 pmAbout a month ago I installed Windows 7 and since then I haven't been able to format my reviews properly. I have tried doc and docx. neither worked.
The article looked good in the writing box but the preview never came out like the box layout.
I have used Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome none worked well. Often I tried to submit my review only to be told it contained less than 10 words - when it actually had 500. When I went back from the preview the whole article would have disappeared.
Has anyone any suggestions plase?
Research
Thu, 26 Sept 2013, 12:30 pmI have been doing dome research in to this problem, and I may have a solution. I am currently testing with this very text, so we’ll see if it works. Now, I am using an Older version (2003) but the same problem persists. If you copy and paste text written in Word, there are a whole swag of Word Specific extraneous formatting codes that get copied with it. This attempts to maintain the page width and so forth and can cause formatting ugliness.
However, if you save your document as Web Page Filtered (sometimes Filtered HTML) first, the extra code will be removed. When I tried this, a dialogue appeared warning me that certain formatting options would be removed. I expected this so clicked ok. My text changed a little as Microsoft formatting was removed but the Italics and Bold remained. Then when I copied and pasted the document, WITHOUT CLOSING OR REOPENING, and ass you can see, it pasted something that works quite well on this site.
Once posted, I did need to do a small amount of editting, but on the whole, the formatting was alot better.
