Sort of like pulling teeth

I have to confess folks, that doing theatre as an Independent, can often be compared to pulling teeth. This is not intended as a sob story, although you may shed a tear if you so wish... Some of you may have noticed, or heard, that A lad in sane / Away with the Fairies productions have a new production looming in October...this a new play of mine (God no! Not a new play no. Didn't we suffer one of those four years ago?) Sorry! Being silly... the result of a juvenile delinquent mind squatting in an aged apartment..I'll be serious for the next whatever lines...promise... Okay, here we go...it took a lot of pulling with heavy pliers to find a vacant theatre, but in the end we got it...it now appears that it may take the same tool to obtain our cast for the show. Call me pessimistic, (who wouldn't be after cancelling two shows in recent times), but with auditions but one week away (refer audition notice this site.) we are but 98% short of the actors needed to pull this thing off. Now, I'm not asking you to drop what you're doing and join us, but I will ask (or plead, if that be your preference,) that you spread the word to your actor / technician / FOH colleagues, that if they're desperate, here's the show made for them. Just kidding. We don't take just anyone...you must first pass our intensive audition....'Now, Reece. If you'd just like to breathe in and out...lovely, wonderful performance! That's earned you two leading roles... For details, people can contact me direct, or refer to the audition notice posted on this site. Note: People are welcome to dip their feet in the water without going swimming, for we have no plans to nail feet to boards...just yet. Note: Should I fail to obtain a cast, this will be my third time in a row...yes, I'm somewhat slow in taking a hint..should we cancel, then I might as well spend my spare time spraying the roses for aphids, and being I don't have any roses, that leaves me with a predicament. In closing...this play going up, will give this old bugger, a chance to share the stage (briefly) with his soon to be eleven year old son...now come on! Would you be letting that opportunity go without some sort of a fight? Not to mention, that some have deemed the play not quite ready for the stage... Now that challenge, could in itself, prove a fairytale of sorts? thankyou for your patience cheers Johnny Grim A lad in sane / Away with the Fairies Productions 0430 889 789

From out of the woodwork

Thanks to those of you who've contacted me re my plea for help. I'm pleased to say that we've had a few girls interested in auditioning, yey! Now all we need is twelve good men. Was that a rousing chorus of 'good luck on that one matey boy' from the feline chorus in the back row? The fairytale is alive for now.... cheers JG
