It has come to our attention here at Byron Theatre, that many Theatres are in the process of upgrading to new technology and we are keen to inherit your old equipment. We are very happy to pay transportation costs to Byron as well as credit your gift on our website. We are particularly interested in stage lighting and I have listed our preferences below. • Profiles • PAR 64’s • Zoom Spots • Mini zoom spots • Pacific Profiles • Mac 500’s or other • Psych • Floods - any equivalent to the above in LED lighting preferred. Other equipment needed includes Monitor Speakers (fold back only), Cabling 240 volts, XLR (microphone cables) and Curtain Blacks. I rember quite a few years

I rember quite a few years ago, some Wombat or was I a Numbat? Suggested 'Aunty Ita' should look at having a fairly central Wharehouse cum workshop for Props, Set Pieces & lighting,  Audio or other Techie Gear. That can be on a crosshire agreement between member Ameatre Groups. Which would  solve a lot of individual Group storage problems & assist with the maintance & purchase of new &/or updated gear.

I'm sure there a few retired old Techies, with time to volunteer & to help out to fix &/or look after the gear!

It wouldn't take that much for 'Aunty" to apply for a Gov Grant to pay the Lease or  rent.

with the exception of par

with the exception of par 64s, all the gear you list is still universally used and worth serious money, so don't hold your breath with regards donations. By the way it is cycs you are after unless you have problems with your actors, in which case psychs could be handy. If the new technology you refer to are LED theatre lights, then at $2000+ each they are not going to take over any time soon.Best of luck.

Joe what a great idea. Now

Joe what a great idea. Now why don't you get onto "Aunties" committee and see if you can implement it. All they seem to do these days is the Finleys and One Act Dramafest. Stuart PS I forgot my password or I would have written this under my name

I Nominated in the

I Nominated for 'Aunty' in the prescribed manner & time limit. Only upon the AGM, as there was no other nomination, they opened it upto nominations from the floor. Which to me it went against the Constition & so I objected to the proceedure on a piont of order, which was ignored by the Chair,  so I pulled the pin on the nomination. Because although nominations had closed some time before & also they elected the Presidant & others unoposed, on the basis of no further nominations being recieved prior to the closing date.

Which to my mind I should have been also elected unoposed, in the same manor as others had just been elected. Therefore I got the message & evaporated!

What confused them was the fact that Office Bearers were elected individily, where by the Commitee Members were taken on mass for the 5 positions. Rather than only 4 positions.

I havs suggested a Central Workshop idea a few times in the past. Which brough about pathetic reasons of it won't work, as there is no one to organise it? In other words "We can't be 'boverd'!"

Also there are a few of us aude techies about, that are Licensed &/or have Qualifcation tio effect the repairs & have time on thier hands!

Further I would imagine it not being too difficult to organise an ameatre 'Restricted Special Licence'. Also with primary training on a jiont basis & tested at the local Tech Schools.

The State Minister at the time, showed interest, but 'Aunty' was normally apathetic as usual because it did not involve 'Warm Props"!

philanthropics interested in offering interest free loan..

Possibly both! It seems there are many theatres out there trying to upgrade lighting to more energy efficient alternatives.....yet unable to raise the substantial financial outlay to do so. Perhaps we could use a cultural benefactor who could offer an interest free loan. That way money saved on electricity could go to repaying the debt. Any philanthropic people out there interested???????????????????? Byron Theatre & Community Centre
