In August 2012, the Phoenix Theatre will present the debut of my new play entitled 'Tainted Love.' Auditions are set down for June. Note This full-length play is set in modern day Lancashire, and features a cast of four middle aged women. The four have been friends since childhood, and have lived their whole life in the same neighbourhood. At present, the play is set in Manchester, however, in casting the play, the tricky part will be finding four actors who can deliver similar / convincing accents. That being the case, I'm open to re-setting the play to Liverpool or Yorkshire, depending on who shows interest in taking part. Should you be interested in findding out more, or know of anyone who might be, please feel free to contact me(no obligation. Note: We welcome interest from experienced and novice actors alike. I can be contacted by email - johnnygrim@optusnet.com.au cheers Johnny Grim

Me thinks

Given the lack of response to my request, I suspect this website must fal short of Joondalup, Gosnells and Rockingham...how hard can it be to find 4 middle-aged poms???...Come on girls, you can't all be out having a blue rinse or playing bingo...bloody hell! Coronation St is on in a mo, plenty of time while the kettle's boiling to drop me a line... and no, I do not accept that Joondalup is too far away from Hamilton bloody Hill...yer not bloody walkin are yer! Ha! PS: If you don't get in touch with me I may be forced to re-write the bloody play, and that's not an easy thing to do given we don't get a lot of ice in Perth.. I've said me piece, and I'll bog off now...got to put me sky blue and white streamers up to celebrate City winning tet league...eeh by gum...pipping United at post, you gotta celebrate that don't yer... Depending on what eara the

Depending on what eara the show is set in, because now, since the advent of TV in Pohmyland back in the 50's. There is a smoothing out of most of the 50+ accents there. So for the most part just listenng to some of 'Our Gracies' songs (Gracie Fields) which may help, in pickimg up the ' Ekee Thump Twang'. In fact there are various Sites on the Net that you can download.

Grumble

Grumble, grumble (flippin' 'eck!) I live in the wrong state BUT serious congratulations on writing a play for mature ladies. Come on girls! Get your skates on and put up your hands!! Don't worry about the accent, there are ways and ways of crossing that bridge. :) PS: Johnny m'duck, do post this in the Audition bit won't you? Sorry to nag, I know JessMess has already said this but...

It's always easier to play

It's always easier to play older, than younger!

Why not just have it done

Why not just have it done in a generic acent? Lets face it the 'Tin tanks' have been doing much the same for years.

Is there such a thing

Mr Joe sir, a generic pommy accent would make for interesting listening, having said that, we may very well head down that path... cheers JG
