MINDGAME By Anthony Horowitz Directed By Jenny M Ferguson Last Weekend to catch the show. Thursday 15th, Friday 16th & Saturday 17th - March A Psychological thriller peppered with Jet Black Comedy Perception of reality questioned in WA premiere of psychological thriller The WA premiere of MINDGAME a psychological thriller peppered with black comedy is taking to the stage this March. Mark Styler is a writer of ‘true crime ‘stories who arrives at Fairfields hospital for the criminally insane intent on interviewing a notorious serial killer, Easterman, for his upcoming novel. He meets Dr. Farquhar, the hospital director; however things don't seem quite right. Dr. Farquhar‘s assistant Nurse Plimpton seems frightened of something. Styler’s fight for a story may be his last. Suspense, intrigue, twists and turns and a question of sanity, all served with a scrumptious peppering of jet black comedy. “Don’t forget to Breathe” This play is very much in keeping with the current popular true crime films and TV shows but has the added bonus of a good splattering of black humour. There are also a lot of good questions raised, such as the meaning of reality and how do you perceive reality? “What are we, but what others perceive of us?” Cast: Farquhar played by Marcus Plato Styler played by Andy Markland Plimpton played by Susan Flood MINDGAME is set in a hospital for the criminally insane as true-crime writer Mark Styler tries to interview a notorious serial killer. It was originally a 2001 novel by Anthony Horowitz, who later adapted it into a play Horowitz has a wealth of writing credits to his name, including television scripts for Midsomer Murders, Poirot, Robin of Sherwood, Crime Traveller and Foyle’s War and the Alex Rider series of books featuring a teenage spy. Last year, he released an official Sherlock Holmes novel – the first time Arthur Conan Doyle’s estate has allowed this. It’s a play of twists and turns – something funny is going on but you’re not quite sure what. A psychological thrillers that challenge perceptions and unearths the unseen realities of the human condition. Performances at: Playlovers - Hackett Hall (Not UWA), Draper St, Floreat Tickets: bookings@playlovers.org.au or 0415 777 173 Tickets also available online www.playlovers.org.au
