Can you have your cake and eat it too?
The City of Swan and TAZ Entertainment are proud to present the encore season of The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband. After a highly successful and completely sold out season of 12 shows at Kalamunda’s Town Square Theatre in July and August, this wicked black comedy by Debbie Issit will be showing at Midland Junction Arts Centre for two shows only.
Directed by the award winning team of George and Terry Hackett, the play is a high energy emotional journey as we follow the tribulations of an ageing Teddy Boy who moves between wife and mistress.
Kenneth and Hilary have been married nearly twenty years, but as middle age encroaches, Kenneth finds himself in the arms of another woman. At first, Laura seems to represent everything that is missing from Kenneth’s life with Hilary, but his little fling quickly becomes desperately out of hand and his world a spiral of lies and deceit.
Told through a series of flashbacks interspersed with the ‘last supper’, The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband is a highly entertaining exploration of jealousy, humiliation, deceit and betrayal which gives an entirely new meaning to the old adage, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”
As a Producer/Director team, George and Terry have won many awards including two ITA Finley Awards for the best play in WA, Same Time Next Year 1999 and Barmaids2003 and the Finley Award for best musical, Nunsense2003.

REVIEWS:
"One of the best shows I have seen this year!!! Laugh... I nearly s##t myself!!! Don't miss it!!
"Hilary's enormous character owns the stage. Her booming voice makes you listen. Her bastardisation of her situation makes you laugh heartedly. Minor props on stage leave you initially wondering what could possibly happen, but the actors use their improvisation skills, and you are left wanting some of the delicious dinner Hilary has cooked. You can smell the cigarette smoke, see the alcohol pour freely and witness clothing being taken off without seeing an ounce of flesh. This show exceeded expectation for a small production. The actors made their characters real and the comments in the 'elderly' audience were funny. It caused the back row to wonder what the term was for the brutality they witnessed; it caused sounds of shock and laughter at the explicit sex on stage. Yes, this play explored many avenues of the human relationship, the human experience, and was very enjoyable to explore with Hilary and her 'friends'!" ~ Neisha Walker
