Shakespeare calling for men
Mon, 29 Aug 2011, 02:38 pmIn the Shakespearian days of theatre, you would be hard pressed to find a woman on stage, unless you ventured into the less reputable parts of London town where nasty looking blokes stood guard at the door. Men played men and men played women in all the official theatrical estabilshments, and that was law. There were plenty of women who wanted to but had to do so in secret.
Nowadays, you be hard pressed to actually get a bloke on stage, and with the few that are game, you will often find women playing men. Did you know that over half the Horsemen of Rohan in the recent block buster film Lord of the Rings were women?
So here is our request, our need and our hope, that men are out there that are interested in giving Acting a go, in a hilarous Shakesperian comedy, The Merry Wives of Windsor. Pranks and double crossing, suitors and lusting, tickery and mockery, it's all there.
With already a flood of interest from the fairer gender of our art, we need a stronger selection of men. Are you up to the challnege?
Auditions are 'scheduled' for the Saturday and Sunday coming (3rd and 4th September 2011) however, you can call the production company to discuss alternative arragnements if these days do not suit.
For all the casting particulars, plus a quick cast list, check out the audition page.
