Regular patrons of Melville Theatre Company in Palmyra will no doubt recall Edna Ford, who would sell raffle tickets and play the piano at interval, sometimes drawing quite a singalong crowd. Earlier this year, Edna's husband, Monty passed away. Sadly, this morning, Edna has gone to join her husband. Edna was a life member of Melville, and her passing is a blow to us at the club.

Very sad news Jeff, I have very fond memories of Edna from my involvement with Melville in the 90's Condolences to the club, and to her family and friends. Regards Robert

Sincere Condolences

Oh! How sad! Another "regular oldie" gone. I do hope that you are somewhere "up there" playing the piano with Monty by your side. Thank you, Edna, for the memories that I have of attending productions at Melville Theatre. You certainly contributed to the night. Bless you and sleep tight.

We had many a laugh, and loved to recall to our times in the west end of Newcastle.

To a wonderful lass, may the angels shine on you.

Vale Edna

Edna came into Melville's life  many years ago when we needed a "Geordie" voice coach. Edna's son saw this appeal and recommended his mother. A slightly reluctant Edna came along and both sides were hooked! When we discovered that she played the piano and loved doing so, that was it and Edna became a much loved and respected member of the theatre. Since then there were very few shows that did not involve 'our Edna', pouring out tea, selling raffle tickets and playing the piano in the interval.

Theatre Company gatherings usually involved an old- fashioned sing- song, especially our Christmas parties with carol singing!

Sadly with the passing of time Edna's involvment had to lessen and early this year she and Monty moved to an aged care facility. Monty died a few months ago.

Rest well Edna you deserve it. Join the other theatre members wh have recently left us and have a party  and a good sing-along 'up there'!

Edna Ford

Hello Norma Your comments about Mum are beautifully written and a comfort to read at this awful time. We all loved her, she had a way of getting involved with others and she is sadly missed. The night she passed away she kept opening her eyes and giving me a big smile, one that I will never forget. God bless her cotton socks. Pam Ford
