On behalf of the "Perth based" community theatre population, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the team at Rockingham Theatre Company for hosting the second ITA Sun-downer for 2011.

I am sure that I can speak for everyone concerned in saying that we had a wonderful evening.

Having never been to "The Castle" before (shame on me!) I was treated to a very informative Grand Tour of the building by "Rob" (an excellent Set Builder by the way!) and I can say that as a modern theatre it compares most favourably with any venue here in Perth. Constructed almost entirely by the efforts of the company themselves, this is a venue that is genuinely "purpose built" and I am informed that it is intended to expand in the near future to include 2 larger Dressing Rooms, a deeper stage and a fly tower. (I can see a few jealous companies out there  :) )

My partner and I are heading back down again to watch their next production "Hello, Is Any Body There?" and see this dedicated and vibrant team in full swing.

The show is written by Ian Hornby, directed by David Heckingbothom and the promotional flyer I picked up describes it thus: "This hilarious farce steadfastly refuses to take itself (or anything else) seriously."

Well, I don't know about the rest of Perth, but I can certainly relate to people that won't take things seriously and I reckon that a good dose of laughter never hurt anyone.

If anyone is interested in joining Kath and I to see the show, drop us a line.

Season dates and ticketing details can be found on their website:

Hope to see you all there!!

Chookas and thank you Rockingham Theatre Company!!

Graeme
