Warren is a Perth based artist who is currently in Melbourne developing his solo performance De Profundis.
Warren completed a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama/Media at Edith Cowan University and trained in physical/self-devised theatre at Total Theatre. He has appeared in many performance projects in Perth and in the last three years has been developing his own brand of unique solo theatre. This has included a solo work based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Tell-Tale Heart" for the Act Provocateur Solo Festival in London (Winner: Best Male Actor) and Quest: a Tell-tale of the Heart, a highly original and visceral gothic performance that received great acclaim during its Blue Room Theatre season in 2008.
De Profundis was first trialled in a 15min format for Summer Nights at the Blue Room in 2009 and then grew into its second incarnation for The Dog Theatre's A la Carte program during the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2010. The show will be developed for a 2011 Summer Tour, being presented at Hares and Hyenas for the Midsumma Festival in Melbourne, The Blue Room Theatre for Summer Nights, and then at Tuxedo Cat for the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
De Profundis is a moving and whimsical solo theatre response to Oscar Wilde's love letter of the same name. Delicately dancing between the comic and the tragic and fusing drag, poetical beauty and unique physicality, De Profundis is a powerful exploration of the suffering of a man isolated behind his many masks.
'It's an absolute privilege to watch Herbu perform - this is one extremely talented actor to watch out for" - Australian Stage Online
