The WA Governmant has , this evening announced  that in 2011, CHOGAM will meet in Perth in October and that as a consequence the Queen's Birthday holiday will be moved to the end of October, so instead of the holiday Monday being on October 3rd  the holiday date will be Friday October 28th!!(I think I heard the date correctly)

That should mess up Dramafest arrangements  very nicely.

Who does she think she is?

That's damn rude of her. I think we should write to her and explain the havoc her visit will cause. freddie the rocking jedi badger

Question

Isn't D-fest held in September, not October? D-fest usually mucks up my plans for Grand Final Day quite nicely :) i

TThe Queen's Birthday in WA

TThe Queen's Birthday in WA - Courtesy of timeanddate.com The Queen's Birthday is a holiday in Western Australia at a different date to that observed by other parts of the country. The governor in Western Australia proclaims the holiday's date for this state. There are no fast rules about when it will fall but it is often on the last Monday of September or the first Monday of October. Darn

I think you'll find that

I think you'll find that the AFL grand final will be played on that famous first Saturday in October in 2011. So what's to happen then Norma? Will D'fest be moved, or will it run as slated? The Monday this year was only used for the dissertation and awards, which could easily be done on a Monday evening. And don't tell me you're not on the ITA committee and it's not up to you. We all know who's in charge. :) www.meltheco.org.au

I think you'll find that...

Jeff, you'll get me into trouble you will!!

The ITA committee will be discussing the options, as the change was only annouced last evening no-one has had the chance to think about it- I just happened to be on-line at the time so thought I'd make a comment!

question

D-fest is , or rather has been for many years now been held on the Long-weekend of the Queens Birthday holiday weekend which is/has been the last weekend in September/first weekend in October, depending a bit on the actual calendar.

I don't suppose the GF will be altered so at least you might be able to watch it in peace!

If I heard right .......

Hi Folks. If I heard the news right last night, the public holiday has been changed to (I think - the previous) Friday instead of the Monday as most of the city roads may be semi closed down on the Friday for access and security reasons. Maybe there is a Press Release on one of the State Government's websites confirming the change of public holiday to the Friday. Meanwhile, have a great weekend. Cheers for now. 1d

Its Easy! Hold it that

Its Easy! Hold it that weekend. Start on a Thursday night instead of the Friday Night. Final day Sunday.

Well that gives us something to discuss

At the committee meeting on Wednesday. We may need to chat to Bunbury too. My biggest concern is YouthFest. It is a major change for schools and drama groups who work on a term by term basis to switch from one term to another...with holidays as an interruption. Something to think about. If anyone has brilliant inspiration, let us know Kimberley (See Spamalot)
