A Night Of Deceit - Press Release

The innovative “A Night of Deceit” (at Subiaco Arts Centre from December 15^th)  marks the entrance of an exciting new voice in West Australian theatre.

Ellandar Productions is committed to producing homegrown, original material that excites and expands the horizons of audiences and performance artists alike.

In “A Night of Deceit” audiences will be transported to an interrogation chamber at Scotland Yard, the dirty streets of Hell’s Kitchen in NYC, a 1940’s Australian railway station and the office of an eccentric sex therapist in London. And that’s just part of the extraordinary journey. With elements of 1940’s “noir” Cabaret, the two-hour show guarantees to leave audiences guessing, thinking….  and laughing.

Chiefly written and devised by three W.A playwrights, the show features five ten minute plays, interspersed with musical theatre numbers, and some of our finest young talent, united with the likes of Fern Nicholson of RADA and the West End.

Ellandar Productions is keenly aware of the parlous state of local theatre. With the closure of the Playhouse Theatre and the end of PICA, Ellandar is proud to join the small, but important, fringe theatre community battling to keep this vibrant art form afloat. As Managing Director, Elliott Cook states: “We aim to showcase both original and non-mainstream work in theatre and film”.

Ellandar Productions, founded earlier this year by friends Iskandar R. Sharazuddin and Elliott Cook, is designed as a vehicle to support emerging W.A talent in all forms of the performing arts, using industry heads as guides and mentors on the journey.

“A Night of Deceit” is directed by Artistic Director, Iskandar R. Sharazuddin, with support and assistance from Fern Nicholson, the principal lecturer of screen acting at the Film & Television Institute of W.A and a graduate of the world renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London. With its use of W.A actors, costume designers, graphic designers, producers and playwrights, “A Night of Deceit” exemplifies the spirit of groundbreaking collaboration that is Ellandar Productions.
