You really should see this show, make the time and make sure you don't miss it. Director Lorna Mackie has done an amazing job with all the cast who are all extremely enthusiastic, full of energy and totally commited to the project. The production crew and technical aspects were tight and of a professional level which made me doubt it was a Blak yak show. This is not actually a negative comment as I have always thought that Blak Yak is and has been positive influence in the Perth community theatre scene for constantly promoting young and emerging artists, actors, technians and writers, which I have always admired them for, the company which usually has a membership of 8 has struggled in the production aspects of shows in the past. But there was no evidence of that in this show. This project by Blak Yak has convinced me that the best for this company is yet to come. So congratulations to all concerned. They have set the bar very high with thier first musical. Do yourself a favour and see Reefer Madness. It is also performing at the Pheonix Theatre in Spearwood, which is a beautiful newly refurbished historical theatre. Though I personally was a little disturbed by the actor playing Jesus with a nipple ring, It caused me a vague concern that God would burn down the theatre with all of us in it because of blasphemy. But I got over it and just enjoyed the ride!
