Hi Everybody

Has anyone ever found a course in Santa Claus Training or the like? Local to Perth or online?

The do's & don't's are obvious enough but what about a credited course? A point in any direction would be appreciated.

Good question

There are a lot of good web sites in the US (mostly real beard Santa sites.)with very good advice. The only training I know of in Australia is that offered by various commercial organisations for the people they intend to use as Santa's. ie Westaff and the various shops. Absolutely essential is a police clearance and useful is an awareness of mandatory reporting requirements although Santa's don't actually have a role in that officially. I am one of Santa's helpers real beard and hair and actually have never had formal training. Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au

WWC

In addition to a Police Clearance, you may very well need a Working With Children License else you may not even get a look in. However, most hiring agencies for this line of work should already have processes in place to assist.

Whilst I commend your drive

Whilst I commend your drive to be the best Santa you can, I think that people hiring Santa's aren't too fussed. It's not a Wolf, It's an Alaskan Malamute.

The other end of the stick

Thanks guys. My research came up with the same results. Needed to check to see if I missed anything. I appreciate the positive vibes. However in this case we've managed to score a few of those gigs so we'd be that company looking to train. It's good to be able to get some money into the acting community. So if anyone wants to be a Santa (weekdays too) let us know...

... dance lightly my friend, but carry a big stick...
