What happened?? Unscheduled outage

My apologies to all those affected by the recent unscheduled downtime.

While the website was still available to a few people (evidence a comment posted last night), for most the website was effectively unavailable from the morning of Friday 2 July when the Theatre Australia domain or web address expired until it was transferred and renewed at around 4pm Tuesday 6 July.

I'm personally and professionally responsible for literally hundreds of domains and web addresses, there is no way this should happen and it is inconceivable to me that it should have taken as long as it did to restore the domain. My initial frustration at a domain reseller who failed to pass on any of four domain renewal and expiry notices over a three month period was nothing to dealing with the sheer obstructive incompetence of domain registrar Netregistry who appeared determined to place every possible obstacle in the way of domain renewal and whose advice seemed to change every time I spoke to them - including several times within a single support call.

My thanks to the staff at Westnet who simply did their jobs, ensuring the domain was renewed ahead of their original estimate.

That little drama is over... on with the show.

Cheers
Grant

Thanks Grant

The withdrawal symptoms were unbearable. Now I can have my fix again. Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au
