Evaporating Sun last brought you Caryl Churchill’s ‘A Number’ at Fortyfive Downstairs… ‘It’s a shame this splendid production is getting such a short run – four stars – The Age’, ‘Intense two hander… distinguished by splendid, sharply focused performances… - Herald Sun’. They now bring you the world premiere…

DISTANT BODIES

Out in the desert where the telescope dishes slowly feel up to the sky five people meet, they’ve met before.

Ed and Abi remember school, a couple of years ago now. They feel right, ‘meant to happen’, the sex… Well, it should get better.

Dianne and Joe came out here ten years ago, before they were married, when small purple clouds dotted a huge empty sky. But now it’s getting dark and the walls are closing in.

Allan - Allan has come out here to die. He’s come out to die because he left then, half a lifetime ago, and it’s fair.

This play looks at how relationships change us. It’s a play about innocence, hope and how we communicate. Bad sex occurs, and some role playing too, but they’re trying to connect.

Honest, moving and often hilarious, Distant Bodies is a new black comedy written by emerging Melbourne playwright Barnaby Chiverton and directed by award winning director Noel Anderson.

Featuring Graham Murray (ex national boxing champion!!!) as Allan, Samantha Morley as Dianne, Chris Broadstock as Joe, Shanti Pezet as Abi and Oliver Skrzypczynski as Eddy.

Lighting by Amy Lever-Davidson and soundscaping by Claire Deak of The Bridesmaid.
